Movers Guide: 7

We insure peace of mind

The last thing you need to think about when you move is what would happen if there was an accident. To help give you peace of mind, Budget offers Loss Damage Waiver (LDW), Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI), Personal Accident and Cargo Insurance (PAC) and Auto Tow Protection (ATP). When you accept these optional protection plans, you minimize your potential loss as well as your financial responsibility that can result from an accident.

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)

It's your responsibility to return the truck in the same condition as at the start of your move. When you accept LDW, you can limit your financial responsibility if the truck is involved in an accident, vandalized or stolen.

Because many personal automobile insurance policies and credit card coverage's do not provide protection while operating a truck, you should check with your insurer and credit card company prior to renting to determine if you need LDW.

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)

When you purchase SLI, you and any other authorized drivers will be provided with liability protection up to $1 million against third-party bodily injury and property damage claims resulting from your use of the truck. This high limit of liability protection is important to many renters who may not have coverage under their personal policies while operating a truck. With the purchase of SLI liability protection is primary, so renters probably won't have to involve their own insurance company even when such coverage is available.

Personal Accident and Cargo Insurance (PAC)

PAC provides coverage for certain medical expenses resulting from an accident, including an accidental death and disability benefit. You are protected both in and out of the truck during the entire rental period and other passengers are protected while occupying the truck. PAC also provides coverage for certain loss or damage to personal property owned by you or members of your immediate family while being transported in the truck. Property is protected against loss or damage resulting from fire, windstorm, flood, overturn of the truck and accident with another vehicle. Loss by theft is not covered.

Auto Tow Protection (ATP)

ATP is available to renters who tow their personal automobile using Budget towing equipment attached to the rental truck. It provides coverage against loss of or damage to your personal auto resulting from fire, windstorm, flood, overturn of the truck and accident with another vehicle. Loss by theft is not covered. Coverage is provided up to $15,000 and is in excess of any other collectible insurance available to you.

These optional protection plans are available at participating Budget locations for an additional daily charge and are payable for each full or partial rental day. These plans may not protect you if a loss occurs while you are in violation of the terms of the Rental Agreement. LDW is not insurance, but an optional waiver of your responsibility for damage to the truck. SLI, PAC and ATP are provided by independent insurance companies. The above summaries are subject to specific provisions, limitations and exclusions contained in the actual policies which are available for review at your rental location.

Welcome Home

Check every off-loaded item against the list you made during loading. If you have small children, unload some toys first, to entertain them while you tackle the rest of the truck. When you are finished, inspect the truck and cab to make sure you've got everything removed from it. Now you're ready to return your truck and begin life in your new community. Welcome home!
